Help!

Will the Audiobook player remember where I stopped listening and start at the same point when I turn it back on?
Yes. The player will remember your position, but only if you hit the STOP button before turning off the device.

How do I navigate forward and backward through the programs I've loaded onto the player
To select a different title on your player, press the Browse button twice to display the titles of the programs that are loaded. Scroll the Multi wheel to highlight the title you would like to listen to, and then press on the Multi button to select that title.

How many hours of audiobook content can I listen to with a single AA battery in my player?
We've seen AA batteries last for as many as 11 hours in the audiobook players.

Is there an easy way to skip from the beginning of one track to the next?
Yes. Quickly press and release the FF or REW buttons. Example: You can use this feature to skip from one article to the next when listening to the New York Times.

How do I use the bookmark feature on my player?
Press and hold the Bookmark button to mark a place in the audio program being played.

How do I delete a bookmark from my player?
To delete a bookmark, highlight the bookmark then press and hold the Bookmark button.

How do I adjust the volume on my Rio player?
Use the Multi wheel on the device to control the volume.

When I listen to my audio files on the player and hit the Rewind or Fast Forward button, instead of skipping a few seconds backward or forward, it takes me to the beginning or end of the track. What should I do? To rewind or fast forward within a track on the player, hold the Rewind or Fast Forward button down until you get to the time that you would like to begin listening from. Pressing and releasing Rewind or Fast Forward quickly will take you to the beginning or end of each track.

I try to press Play, or any other button on my player, and nothing happens. What is wrong? On the top of the player there is an Off/Hold/On switch; make sure that the switch is not in the Hold position. The Hold feature is used to disable all functions of the player while jogging or during other types of activities where the Rio player's buttons could be bumped. Switch your player to On to use the buttons.

Whenever I get to the end of a section the player repeats that section rather than going automatically to the next section. Why?
The player has a continuous playback feature. To set this feature, press the Multi wheel once, then scroll up and select Repeat. Press the Multi wheel once then select All Folders. A small symbol of two circling arrows indicates the continuous playback has been set.

What is MP3?
All of the books available through ListenOhio are stored in the MP3 file format. MP3 stands for MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3. The MPEG process compresses a sound sequence into a very small file, while retaining its original quality. How? By being very selective and eliminating certain sound frequencies that can't be heard by the human ear. The format compresses the file to approximately 1/12 the size of the original file, making it quicker to download and allowing us to put hours of content on the Audiobook players that you can checkout from your library.

I thought MP3 was a standard file format, why can't I use my own player?
The content provided by ListenOhio is copyright protected using an encryption technology that will only permit it to be played on devices owned by the library.

What is a Book Basket?
ListenOhio has added the ability for you to a collect list of titles you want to hear into a list, called a basket. Once you create a basket you can add as many titles as you want, and you can view it any time using the username and PIN you selected. When you’re ready to check out, library staff will use your list to load available titles onto a player. Titles that you don't check out will stay in your basket for next time. This new feature will make getting the titles you want faster and easier.
