Question: How does ListenOhio work?
ListenOhio consists of both a public and staff interface. The public interface contains an online catalog which supplies patrons with listings of titles, descriptions, jacket covers, real-time item status and more. The staff interface contains the system which allows libraries to locate, checkout and download the titles in the collection.

Question: How is a book checked out?
Library staff members checkout and download content using the staff interface. All titles are stored on a central content server located at NOLA and are delivered on-demand to libraries across the Internet. Audiobook files range in size from (typically ranging from 10-20 MB) and can take anywhere from one to five minutes for download for most libraries.

Question: What is the loan period for ListenOhio materials?
Loan period, fines, overdues and other policy decisions are determined by the local library.

Question: How many libraries participate in ListenOhio?
Currently the ibrary listed below offers the ListenOhio service to their patrons. Libraries which are interested in offering this service to their patrons should contact the NOLA Office at 800.589.6652 for more information.

    Question: Do patrons really use this service?
    Through ListenOhio the participating libraries have loaned over 5500 digital audiobook titles to Ohio library patrons during our first year of operation. The program doesn't appear to have been a fad as usage has continues to increase month by month.

    Question: How large is your collection?
    The ListenOhio collection currently contains over 2400 titles which require more than 90GB of storage space. New items are added at the rate of 40-50 titles per month.

    Question: When did ListenOhio begin operation?
    ListenOhio began operation in October 2001.
